POSITION SUMMARY:



  • The Service Technician reports to the Service Manager.

  • Based in San Francisco or Sacramento, CA.

  • Full-Time, Hybrid role.


The Refrigeration Service Technician handles intermediate-level service, repair, and installation of foodservice equipment at customer sites. The role demands strong customer interaction skills, technical knowledge, and independence. The position offers incentives, door-to-door pay, and tuition reimbursement for certifications to advance to a Senior Service Technician role.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Equipment Service:

    • Perform on-site repairs and maintenance on standard kitchen equipment and simple ice machines, participating in full on-call rotation.

    • Conduct troubleshooting and testing.

    • Regularly survey safety devices and equipment.

    • Manage inventory and tools on the service vehicle, maintaining safety and organization.

    • Work independently on customer equipment.

    • Install equipment and accessories at intermediate level.


  • Repair and Maintenance:

    • Inspect foodservice equipment for safety.

    • Identify repairs and perform preventative maintenance.


  • Inventory Management:

    • Maintain inventory of parts, materials, and tools.

    • Conduct periodic inventory checks.


  • Communication:

    • Provide detailed service reports via tablets.

    • Consult with Senior Techs as needed.
    • Utilize field automation tools.


  • Customer Interaction:

    • Deliver professional service and support.

    • Understand customer needs and foster positive relationships.


  • Safety and Compliance:

    • Operate vehicles safely.

    • Wear appropriate PPE.


  • Documentation:

    • Interpret manuals for maintenance.

    • Manage inventory as directed.


  • Additional Responsibilities:

    • Update management on work progress.

    • Assist with other tasks as needed.

    • Perform related duties as assigned.


COMPETENCIES:



  • Strong communication skills with customers and management.

  • Ability to work independently and multitask.

  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal skills.

  • Confident presentation skills.

  • Proficient in troubleshooting and servicing equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:



  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • 1-2 years experience in refrigeration and foodservice equipment repair, or equivalent military/practical experience.

  • Technical/trade school certification preferred.

  • Intermediate computer skills.

  • EPA Level 1 & 2 certifications; universal preferred.

  • Flexible shifts and adaptable schedule.

  • Ability to pass background check.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:



  • Lift up to 75 pounds.

  • Bend, twist, kneel, crawl.

  • Use hands for handling tools and objects.

  • Stand for long periods.

  • Maintain balance.



The salary range is a general guideline based on national averages and may vary by location and candidate qualifications. Compensation will reflect experience, education, and other factors. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401K, and more. Leadership roles may qualify for bonuses.
