Job summary

Sea Box, Inc. in New Jersey seeks a Refrigeration Technician to install, repair, maintain, and service marine and commercial refrigeration equipment. You will work under supervision with some independence on routine tasks, and may lead helpers on major jobs.

Emergency calls and after-hours work may be required. Responsibilities include preventing accidents, identifying efficiency improvements, inspecting equipment, and maintaining parts inventory.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and refrigeration training completed.
• Universal EPA Section 608 certification.
• Proficient with refrigerant gauges and electrical testing tools.
• Knowledge of safety hazards and precautions of the trade.
• Good verbal and written communication skills; professional demeanor.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Customer, supplier and team interaction ability.

Responsibilities

• Perform repair and service of refrigeration equipment per guidelines.
• Inspect and test incoming/outgoing equipment for condition per company guidelines.
• Overhaul and service refrigeration by repairing/replacing worn parts and controls.
• Check for refrigerant leaks, evacuate and charge systems as required.
• Clean coils and maintain overall equipment appearance; manage parts inventory.
• Respond to emergency service calls during off hours as needed.
• Lift up to 50 lbs; perform other duties as assigned.
• Maintain alertness and safety in all tasks.

Repair and maintenance of our fleet and refrigerated storage containers.

Job Summary

This position reports to the Shop & Refrigeration Operations Supervisor. Work involves the application of trade skills in installing, repairing, maintaining, and servicing marine and commercial type refrigeration equipment. Work is assigned by a foreman and the employee works with some independence on routine assignments. Requires the exercise of judgment in determining the extent of repair and work procedures. Supervision may be exercised over one or several helpers on major repair and installation jobs. Work is subject to regular inspections by a foreman and is also reviewed by the persons requesting services. Job requirements, on occasion, require work beyond normal duty hours resulting from emergency or high priority work

Responsibilities:

• Accident prevention – correct and/or report any unsafe working conditions before they result in an accident
• Identify and implement efficiency improvements, cost reductions and profitability improvement initiatives.
• Inspect and test incoming and outgoing refrigeration equipment to confirm that it is in good condition based on company guidelines.
• Overhaul and service refrigeration by repairing or replacing worn or broken parts, compressors, motors, valves, refrigerant lines, drainage lines, solenoids, and electrical systems, including microprocessor, digital display, transformers, contactors, and all components of the control system.
• Check for refrigerant leaks, evacuate and charge systems as required.
• Clean coils and attend to the overall appearance of the equipment.
• Maintain parts inventory and replenishing supplies.
• Responding to emergency service calls during off hours will occasionally be required.
• Lifting production objects of up to 50lbs.
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Must be able to fulfill essential job function in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.

Employees are eligible for most benefits on the 1st of the month following date of hire.

Hourly Rate Range: $24.00 - $32.50 / hour

Requirements

Skills/Qualifications/Education:

• High school diploma and at least one year of formal training in refrigeration at a certified vocational school.
• Universal EPA Certification – Section 608
• Familiar with using refrigerant gauges and electrical and multi meters.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
• Good verbal and written communication skills and a professional approach to working.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Upbeat personality and able to interact with customers, suppliers, and fellow workers.

Experience:

This position requires a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the service and repair of either commercial or transport refrigeration equipment.
