Job summary

Acme Markets is seeking a Refrigeration Technician to keep our stores safe and efficient. You will install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain refrigeration, HVAC, EMS, and electrical systems, documenting issues and solutions while ensuring safety and compliance.

You’ll operate EMS/BMS controls, schedule set points, and coordinate with internal teams. The ideal candidate holds EPA Section 608 certification, a HS diploma, a valid license, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• EPA 608 universal certification is required for handling refrigerants.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily mechanical checks on equipment in mechanical room, roof, HVAC, EMS, walk-ins and refrigerated cases.
• Maintain refrigeration, HVAC, EMS, electrical and mechanical systems and carry out repairs.
• Perform preventive maintenance, leak checks, inspections and new equipment installations.
• Record information and maintain compliance forms in paper and electronic systems (Corrigo, refrigerant tracking).
• Monitor outside contractor work and notify Refrigeration Manager of issues.
• Troubleshoot refrigeration, HVAC, mechanical and electrical problems and document solutions.
• Maintain a high technical level in troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment.
• Manage service-call communications and ensure timely responses.
• Maintain current licenses, inspections, permits and certificates to meet codes.
• Operate EMS building controls and BMS systems; adjust set points and sequences as needed.
• Understand and modify building control sequences and EMS/BMS operations.
• Order materials, write purchase orders and enter data for work reports and leak reports.
• Perform duties timely, efficiently and professionally.
• Maintain a neat, clean and safe work area in the mechanical room, roof and service vehicle.

A Day in the Life

As a Refrigeration Technician, you’ll be responsible for keeping our stores running safely and efficiently. In this hands-on and dynamic role, you’ll install new equipment. You will troubleshoot and repair refrigeration, HVAC, mechanical, and electrical systems. You are responsible for performing preventive maintenance to uphold our standards, document findings and recommend solutions that help prevent future issues.

Main Responsibilities

• Make daily mechanical checks on equipment in the Mechanical Room, Roof, HVAC, EMS systems, refrigerated cases, and walk-ins. etc.
• Maintain all refrigeration, HVAC, EMS systems, electrical, and mechanical systems, and make necessary repairs.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks, leak checks, inspections, and new equipment installations. Willrecord required information and maintain compliance forms and all other documentation in both paper form at the store and electronic in Corrigo and Refrigerant tracking System, based on the specific task.
• Monitor preventive maintenance and construction project work done by outside contractors and notifies Area Refrigeration Manager of issues or problems with outside contractors.
• Responsible for troubleshooting refrigeration, HVAC, mechanical, and electrical problems, performing repairs, documenting solutions, and recommending further action.
• Maintain a high technical level in troubleshooting and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Manage communications for service calls: Ensure timely responses as required.
• Maintain current license, inspection, permit, and certificate requirements to meet all state and local codes.
• Operate EMS building controls and automation systems: Fine-tune operating parameters, adjust set points and schedules, fully understand and modify building control sequences, and operate the EMS/BMS systems.

We believe the successful candidate has these qualifications and experience

• Must possess an EPA Section 608 Universal Certification.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills related to technical aspects when communicating with customers at the store and division level.
• Must be willing to work overtime on weekends, holidays, and after-hours when on call.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate of building-related vocational-technical programs are preferred.
• Able to perform duties with a high degree of accuracy and care to avoid mechanical breakdowns.
• Able to respond to direct and radio requests as soon as possible.
• Wear required Personal Protective Equipment as required, including arc flash and safety glasses.
• Must be computer literate and proficient in web-based work order platforms.
• Ability to read and comprehend manuals, prints, and work orders.
• Knowledge of tools and equipment maintenance.
• Ability to work independently.
