Job summary

Suncor is seeking a Project Engineer to lead multi-disciplinary teams at the Commerce City Refinery. You will manage scope, schedules, estimates, and cash flows, coordinating with internal and external partners to deliver projects from planning through handover to Operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
• Five to seven years of work experience as a project engineer in the industrial sector (petro-chemical refinery environment preferred).
• Project management proficiency and leadership with abilities in scope development, risk management, project execution, commissioning and start-up, training, and operations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute projects ranging in size from $100,000 to $30M in various areas of the refinery.
• Provide in-depth technical support, expertise and guidance for design and construction of new projects.
• Identify, evaluate, recommend, and implement opportunities to gain efficiencies through new technologies or improved processes.
• Lead development of all project deliverables and ensure project milestone dates are met.
• Identify potential risks and develop appropriate mitigation plans throughout the project life cycle.
• Develop project documentation and change management per Suncor’s standards, guidelines, and processes, including SOWs for Engineering, Procurement, and Construction activities.
• Coordinate reviews of Engineering and Construction Work Packages with stakeholders to ensure deliverables meet requirements.
• Support Operations in developing and executing project commissioning and start-up plans.
• Carry out project closeout activities including evergreen drawings updates per refinery document control procedures.
