Job summary

Suncor Energy Inc. in Commerce City is seeking an experienced pipe fitter/welder to perform fabrication and field installations of piping, tubing, heat exchangers, and boilers.

You will read drawings and ISOs, maintain welding certifications, and operate a wide range of tools safely. The position is union represented (USW 12-477), offers $55.16 per hour with annual increases, relocation support, and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match,

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of pipe fitting and welding experience with piping, tubing, shell and tube heat exchangers, pressure vessels and boilers.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license with a driving record acceptable to Suncor.
• Ability to pass a 6G SMAW uphill test proctored by Suncor inspection and maintain active status.
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills to liaise with diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings and ISOs to perform fabrication and field installations.
• Fabricate and install threaded pipe, socket welded pipe and butt weld piping configurations.
• Install valves, steam tracing (tubing), test piping systems, hangers, supports, maintenance repairs.
• Operate all tools and equipment such as carry decks, fork lifts, man lifts, rigging, and cutting tools.
• Maintain a welding certification with x-ray quality.

Are you an experienced pipe fitter/welder with hands‑on experience in piping, tubing, heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and boilers, who can read drawings and ISOs, complete high‑quality fabrication and installation work, maintain welding certifications, and safely operate a wide range of tools and equipment? Based at Suncor’s Commerce City refinery, the position requires strong communication and teamwork, and readiness to work.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of related fitting and welding experience with piping, tubing, shell and tube heat exchangers, pressure vessels, and boilers
• A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
• valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to Suncor
• Ability to pass a 6G SMAW Uphill (2” super coupon) test proctored by Suncor inspection and maintain active status within
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills that enable you to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups

Responsibilities

• Fabricate and install threaded pipe, socket welded pipe and butt weld piping configurations
• Install valves, steam tracing (tubing), test piping systems, hangers, supports, maintenance repairs
• Operate all tools and equipment associated with this job such as carry decks, fork lifts, man lifts (articulating and scissor), basic rigging, and operation of pneumatic tools, electric tools, oxy‑acetylene cutting and plasma cutting
• Maintain a welding certification with x‑ray quality

Location and other Key Details

• You will work out of our Commerce City refinery, located at 5801 Brighton Blvd.
• Hours of work are a regular 40‑hour work week, 5x8 hour shifts Monday through Friday OR 4x10 hour shifts Monday through Thursday, depending on business needs
• Paid overtime, often 100-600+ hours per year based on plant needs
• You will be required to perform some heavy lifting, use ladders and work on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined spaces
• This position is safety sensitive

Hourly Rate and Compensation Details

• This is a union represented position under USW 12-477
• $55.16 per hour with annual increases
