Job summary

Clean Harbors, Inc. in East Chicago, IN seeks a hands-on Refinery Engineer to support Operations, Maintenance, Health & Safety, and Compliance.

You will own the Mechanical Integrity program and coordinate capital projects up to about $1 million, from scope to startup and closeout. You will drive process safety improvements, manage MOC processes, and work with cross-functional teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient refinery operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, or Industrial Engineering.
• 3+ years in refinery or industrial environment; 5+ preferred.
• Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) and Management of Change (MOC).
• Capital project management experience including scope, cost estimating, procurement, and startup.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize Health and Safety as the top priority and support a strong safety culture.
• Act as a technical resource for PSM and drive continuous improvement.
• Coordinate MOC reviews, risk assessments, and documentation before implementation.
• Lead Pre-Startup Safety Reviews and ensure prerequisites are met before startup.
