Job summary

Par Pacific Holdings, Inc. is seeking an Optimization Planning Engineer to create refinery-wide operating plans that are safe, feasible and economically optimized.

You will coordinate with commercial, logistics and operations to run the 90‑day plan, manage tank movements, and perform LP modeling to assess near-term refinements. The role emphasizes collaboration with refinery leadership, product marketers and risk teams, plus on-call support for blending and operational issues.

Qualifications

• U.S. work authorization without sponsorship.
• Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering preferred.
• 3+ years oil refining/petrochemical experience in Process Engineering or Operations required.
• 5+ years oil refining experience, especially in Planning and Economics, Operations, Lab, and Process Engineering preferred.
• Experience running an LP (Haverly GRTMPS or PIMS) preferred.
• Experience building and maintaining an LP (Haverly GRTMPS or PIMS) preferred.
• Experience using Haverly HCAMS to process crude assays preferred.
• Proficiency with Windows and MS Office suite programs, especially Excel.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Interfaces with commercial, logistics and refinery operations to manage tank movements, rail and marine schedules, feedstock imports and product sales.
• Develops and optimizes the 90-day run plan and forecast spreadsheet, updating daily with schedulers and product marketers.
• Shares weekly inventory projections with headquarters and risk group in Houston.
• Communicates crude run plan, actuals, forecast and constraints in weekly Refinery Production Planning meetings.
• Performs daily refinery volumetric balance and generates production/consumption and refinery yield reports.
• Generates refinery gasoline blends and manages gasoline inventories; optimizes blends.
