Job summary

Valero Energy is seeking a Health & Safety Specialist to ensure compliance with federal, state, and refinery safety standards, policies and procedures through education, training, and auditing. The role focuses on implementing and improving the safety program across the McKee refinery operations.

The candidate will conduct OSHA audits, assist with permit issuance, and participate in emergency response activities, while coordinating with on-site personnel to enhance safety performance.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 3 years of refinery/petrochemical safety permitting experience required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all governmental and industry safety standards.
• Interface with refinery employees and assist with Health and Safety education.
• Conduct OSHA compliance audits and safety field audits.
• Work with on-site personnel to correct safety issues and improve safety.
• Participate in emergency response activities and provide first aid when needed.
• Assist with work permit issuance and conduct atmospheric testing for safety.
