Job summary

Valero is seeking a Safety Engineer to interpret state and federal safety regulations, advise Operations, and implement cost-effective compliance solutions at the McKee Refinery site in Sunray, TX. The role requires collaboration with regional safety teams to share best practices and ensure regulatory alignment.

The candidate will write procedures, develop training materials, and maintain compliance records.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher-level degree in Engineering or related Science is required.
• 2 years of safety experience required.
• Experience representing a company to regulatory agencies is required.

Responsibilities

• Interact with Operations and other functional groups to implement procedures ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Develop and recommend cost-effective safety strategies and best practices.
• Develop and deliver safety training materials for site employees and ensure delivery.
• Maintain records to demonstrate compliance and prepare documentation for inspectors.
• Negotiate with agencies on interpretation and applicability of regulations.
• Support site safety organizations and regional teams on compliance initiatives.
