Job summary

Marathon Petroleum is seeking a Project Engineer II/III for Electrical & Instrumentation in the Engineering Department, Canton, OH. The role focuses on managing small-to-midsize capital and expense projects and providing technical support to refinery operations.

You will define scope, justify expenditures, manage budgets, and coordinate with design teams and contractors to ensure code-compliant installations and safe, cost-effective execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required.
• Two (2) years or more of industry experience is required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
• Familiarity with Smart Instrumentation (SI) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise within the engineering department, supporting all phases of capital and expense projects.
• Define scope, provide justification, develop cost estimates, schedule design and implementation activities, and secure funding for projects.
• Utilize Electrical and Instrumentation knowledge to support Operations teams and troubleshoot problems.
• Apply project management skills from conception to closeout.
• Coordinate work with in-house designers and outside contractors.
• Develop and review construction packages to meet codes and standards.
• Provide field construction support and final project installation sign-off.
• Support Process Safety Management processes for ORD assets.
