Job summary

Jobot is hiring a Refinery Technician south of Boston, MA. The role operates a computerized control system for hydrolyzer, fractionator, glycerin refinery and associated units to deliver product to spec.

The technician spends most time in the control room monitoring displays, with rounds on the plant floor for checks. Training starts on days with potential night placement after training.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of industrial manufacturing experience, such as refinery, chemical processing, piping or pumping systems, dairy processing or brewing.
• Comfortable monitoring systems in a control room for extended periods while staying alert to changes.
• Able to work a rotating two week schedule of 12 hour shifts, including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Start up the process by turning valves, moving handles, and observing displays.
• Use control systems and manual valves to manage process and production.
• Enter lab results and observations in Quality Window; log data in SAP.
• Perform emergency shutdowns when needed and report hazards.
• Complete safety inspections and mitigate hazards for management.
• Inspect machinery and equipment twice per shift and report defects.
• Draw product samples and run tests (Iodine Value, Color, pH, GC).
• Conduct shift turnover with the relief operator in the control room.
• Participate in maintenance during shutdowns including installation and repairs.
• Perform Lockout Tagout and isolation of systems as required.
• Assist in training colleagues and uphold Safety, Compliance, Quality, Cost and KPIs.
