Job summary

Yakima Medical-Dental Clinic in Yakima, WA is seeking a Referral Specialist to manage referral workflows, assist with patient referrals, and coordinate insurance authorizations. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Associates Degree or Certificate preferred.
• One year of office experience, ideally in medical/dental settings.
• Two years in medical/dental front office with insurance referrals/authorizations preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish required at ALTA score level 9.

Responsibilities

• Manage referral work queues daily to ensure timely processing.
• Assist with patient referrals for additional services with internal/external facilities.
• Assist with patient insurance authorization.
• Assist with appointment setup as needed.
• Coordinate follow up between referral source and patient.
• Ensure chart notes and follow up documentation are linked to referrals.
• Provide translated educational materials and directions to patients when necessary.
• Process incoming correspondence and respond to calls, emails, and faxes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Highlights:

• $1.0 FTE (40 hours per week)
• $18.75-$22.97/hour DOE with the ability to go higher for highly experienced candidates

What You’ll Do:

• Manages work queues regarding referral activity on a daily basis to ensure timely processing and/or completion

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
• Associates Degree or Certificate from an accredited technical school preferred
• One year's experience working in an office setting, preferably a medical or dental office
• Two year's experience working in a medical and/or dental front office setting, with insurance referrals and authorizations preferred
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) required at a level 9
• This position is eligible for Bilingual Differential Compensation when an ALTA score of 9 is achieved.
• Knowledge of or ability to learn medical terminology required
• Ability to prioritize work, handle a variety of tasks simultaneously and complete projects in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
