Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic is seeking a Referral Specialist in Woodburn, Oregon. The role involves managing referral queues, coordinating patient referrals, and assisting with insurance authorizations, appointments, and follow-ups to ensure timely care across our network.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or certificate preferred.
• 1 year of office experience, preferably medical/dental.
• 2 years in medical/dental front office with referrals/authorizations preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish required (ALTA score 9).
• Knowledge of medical terminology desired.
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Manage referral work queues daily for timely processing.
• Assist with patient referrals to internal/external facilities.
• Assist with patient insurance authorizations.
• Assist with appointment setup as needed.
• Coordinate follow-up between referral source and patient.
• Link chart notes and follow-up docs to referrals.
• Provide translated educational materials when needed.
• Handle incoming correspondence and respond to calls/emails/faxes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Highlights

• 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week)
• $19.87-$24.35/hour DOE with the ability to go higher for highly experienced candidates

What You’ll Do

• Manages work queues regarding referral activity on a daily basis to ensure timely processing and/or completion
• Assists with patient referrals for additional services needed with internal and external medical facilities
• Assists with patient insurance authorization
• Assists with appointment setup as needed
• Coordinates follow up between referral source and patient
• Ensures chart notes and follow up documentation is linked to referral
• Provides translated educational materials and directions to patients when necessary
• Processes incoming correspondence and responds to calls, emails, and faxes
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
• Associates Degree or Certificate from an accredited technical school preferred
• One year's experience working in an office setting, preferably a medical or dental office
• Two year's experience working in a medical and/or dental front office setting, with insurance referrals and authorizations preferred
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) required at a level 9
• This position is eligible for Bilingual Differential Compensation when an ALTA score of 9 is achieved.
• Knowledge of or ability to learn medical terminology required
• Ability to prioritize work, handle a variety of tasks simultaneously and complete projects in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
