Job summary

ONE Health Ohio is seeking a Referral Specialist to support clinical referrals, manage related paperwork, and ensure timely communication with referral organizations. You will handle patient check-in/out, verify insurance, and maintain accurate data in the electronic health record.

The role emphasizes strong organizational skills, confidentiality, and proficient use of Microsoft Office and NextGen systems to support daily operations across locations.

Responsibilities

• Functions as general office support in the clinical area with patient service focus.
• Ensure referrals and related paperwork, data and tracking are completed daily.
• Handle phone calls promptly and record messages for Providers.
• Forward lab results, notes, and patient correspondence to referral organization timely.
• Monitor tracking systems to confirm results (Pap, lab, referral).
• Assist front desk with missed appointments and document in EHR.
• Support other departments such as front desk when needed.

Essential Duties / Essential Job Functions

• Functions as general office support in the clinical area and provides good customer service to all customers of ONE Health Systems, Inc.
• Responsible for ensuring that patient referrals and all related paperwork, data and tracking are completed on daily basis.
• Handles all phone calls appropriately in a timely manner.
• Appropriately records phone messages and ensures that the messages are tasked to the correct Provider.
• Responsible for ensuring that all relevant laboratory, testing results, office notes and patient correspondence are forwarded to Referral organization in a timely manner. .
• Assists with monitoring tracking systems to ensure that results are received. IE: Pap, lab and referral.
• Assists front desk with missed appointments that need to be rescheduled and documents in the patients electronic health record.
• Assists other departments such as front desk when needed.

Education And Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Patient check-in/out
• Completing new patient profiles
• Insurance information verification
• Sliding fee scale competency
• Healthcare experience desired
• NextGen experience desired
• CPR or ability to obtain

• Sitting in a normal seated position for extended periods of time
• Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction
• Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard
