Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Referral Specialist in Goleta, CA to process and coordinate internal and external referrals to specialty providers. You will verify insurance coverage, obtain prior authorizations, and document all activities in the EHR/EMR system to support coordinated patient care.

Qualifications

• Experience in referrals, authorizations, or a medical office setting preferred.
• Strong understanding of insurance types (HMO, PPO) and related workflows.
• Experience with EMR/EHR systems to enter and track referrals.

Responsibilities

• Process and coordinate referrals to specialty providers.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorizations.
• Submit and track referral requests with health plans and IPAs.
• Attach all supporting documentation to referrals.
• Communicate referral status to patients, providers, and offices.
• Maintain accurate referral documentation in EHR/EMR.
• Follow up to meet turnaround times.
• Collaborate with front/back office and providers.
• Manage high daily volume with accuracy.
