Job summary

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is seeking a Referral Coordinator to support clinical teams, patients and families by managing referrals and/or authorizations for outpatient ambulatory settings. The role also involves processing internal and external referrals in the EHR and contributing to centralized insurance authorization support across the network.

Work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, at the Sarasota location. Background screening and compliance requirements apply.

Qualifications

• Require one (1) year of previous healthcare experience.
• Preferred: effective communication with physician offices and interdepartmentally.
• Preferred: general knowledge of medical insurance and terminology.
• Preferred: ICD-9/ICD-10 coding and CPT coding knowledge.
• Preferred: patient registration and/or billing experience.
• Preferred: ability to analyze problems and work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage referrals and/or authorizations for orders prescribed in the EHR in outpatient ambulatory settings.
• Process internal and external referrals and authorizations.
• Provide centralized insurance authorization support for patient visits and high‑tech imaging services across practices.
