Job summary

Manatee Memorial Hospital seeks a Referral Specialist for an on-site role in Sarasota, FL, working roughly 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday–Friday. You will schedule referrals, pre-authorize tests, and coordinate test scheduling with facilities as requested by providers.

Strong communication with patients, clinics, and hospitals is essential. Ideal candidates have 1–3 years in healthcare, high school diploma or GED, and solid knowledge of insurance processes and HIPAA.

Qualifications

• Education: High School/GED required.
• Work experience: 1–3 years in healthcare or clinical setting.
• Knowledge: clinical terminology, insurance billing, coding, HIPAA privacy standards preferred.
• Skills: typing, 10 key, computer skills; MS Office proficiency.
• Abilities: data entry, data reconciliation.

Responsibilities

• Schedule referrals for patients and providers.
• Pre-authorize and pre-certify tests/procedures.
• Coordinate scheduling of tests with facilities upon request from providers or staff.
• Communicate effectively with patients, clinics, and hospitals.
• Review clinical data to report medical necessity to insurance companies.
