Qualifications

• US Citizen
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Working knowledge of medical terminology
• One year of administrative experience in a medical office/healthcare setting; referral management/medical scheduling preferred
• Proficiency with computer systems and electronic health records
• Ability to read/write/speak English fluently
• Ability to obtain background check and security clearances
• Current Basic Life Support certification and HIPAA/privacy training as required

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls and assist patients and staff with referral questions
• Review and process referrals for completeness and eligibility
• Schedule and reschedule specialty appointments per MTF guidelines
• Process routine, urgent, and emergent referrals within set timeframes
• Coordinate referrals with outside providers or insurance when services are unavailable at the MTF
• Maintain accurate referral documentation in MHS GENESIS and other systems
• Educate patients on referral procedures, appointments, and timelines
• Provide professional, confidential customer service
