General Infomatics, Inc. is seeking a Referral Clerk for a full-time civil contract at Kirtland AFB, NM. The role supports the Referral Management Center with patient greeting, scheduling, and referral tracking in a fast-paced environment.

The incumbent will review referrals, verify eligibility and benefits, and ensure documentation is complete. Duties include managing medical records, travel arrangements, and monthly metrics reporting, with training provided as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in medical office scheduling recommended (six months).
• Strong receptionist and telephony skills required.
• Typing speed 50 WPM or faster.
• Able to operate office equipment and computers.
• English language proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors and direct them appropriately.
• Answer and route phone calls, schedule medical appointments.
• Review referrals for completeness and verify eligibility/benefits.
• Prepare and maintain patient documentation and records.
• Coordinate travel arrangements and reimbursement processing as needed.
• Generate monthly referral metrics reports and assist with staff training.

We are looking for a REFERRAL CLERK for a full-time, civil contract at Kirtland AFB, NM. Monday to Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.

SUMMARY

This position provides clerical/administrative support in the Referral Management Center for customer service, referral tracking, referral appointing, and reporting activities. This position will support the daily functions of specialty care referral appointing, referral review and coordination, beneficiary counseling and referral tracking at the MTF.

Main responsibilities include but are not limited to greeting patients and visitors, answering and directing phone calls, and scheduling medical appointments. The role involves reviewing referrals for completeness, verifying patient eligibility and covered benefits, and ensuring patients have the necessary documentation for their care. Additional duties include managing and retrieving medical records, tracking referral results, and returning documentation to providers within required timelines. The position also supports patient travel arrangements and reimbursement processing, compiles monthly referral metrics reports, and provides training to staff on referral processes and timelines.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS

• High school or GED diploma
• At least six months of experience in medical office scheduling
• General office administrative and clerical skills to perform receptionist duties and answer telephones.
• Ability to type a minimum of 50 WPM (computer keyboard)
• Ability to operate office equipment, such as personal computers, copiers, fax machines and telephone systems.
• Desired knowledge in any of the following systems:
  • Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA)
  • Composite Health Care systems (CHCS) and/or MHS GENESIS
  • Other MTF ICDB programs
• Ability to speak and communicate clearly in English
• Excellent customer service and adaptability
• General medical ethics, as well as telephone etiquette
• Ability to follow instructions and procedures in detail

The work is mainly sedentary, but may require walking, bending, standing, and/or carrying of light items such as files, manuals, and medical records.
