Job summary

Trinity Health IHA Medical Group is seeking a part-time Referral Coordinator to serve as the key link between patients and their healthcare team. You will manage the referral process, obtain authorizations, and perform follow-up to ensure timely care.

You'll educate patients and staff on referral and insurance details, schedule appointments, verify registrations, and maintain accurate records. This role emphasizes patient-centered service in a fast-paced, team-based environment.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma
• Credentials/Licensure: None
• Minimum experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience with insurance referrals, prior authorization or other relevant medical office experience.

Responsibilities

• Contact insurance companies and obtain authorization for specific plans.
• Educate patients and staff with pertinent referral and insurance information.
• Obtains urgent authorizations same day and next day.
• Schedule, confirm, and coordinate patient appointments.
• Answer questions, route calls appropriately, and relay messages to clinical staff.
• Verify patient registration and insurance information.
• Support referrals, authorizations, and patient outreach activities.
• Maintain accurate documentation and patient records.
• Test tracks the referrals until fulfilled by the patient.
