Job summary

University of Florida Jacksonville Physicians, Inc. is seeking a Referral Coordinator to process referrals for all providers in the clinic module and obtain necessary authorizations when needed.

You will attend referral training and department meetings, stay current on policies and payer requirements, and coordinate referrals with patients, providers, and payers within required timeframes. Travel is up to 10% as part of the position.

Qualifications

• 2 years in diagnosis and procedural coding preferred.
• 2 years in the field or related area required.
• 2 years of customer service required.
• 2 years of third-party payers knowledge required.

Responsibilities

• Attends Referral training class within 1st month of employment.
• Attends and participates in Referral Coordinator meetings.
• Remains current on referral policies and payer requirements.
• Processes referrals for services requested by Providers within guidelines.
• Obtains authorizations for referrals and schedules appointments as appropriate within timeframes.
• Coordinates appointment date, time and location with patients.
• Processes requests for additional referrals/authorizations when requested by providers.
• Ensures referrals are maintained within network or payer requirements.
• Communicates with stakeholders, staff, providers, payers and patients as appropriate.
• Documents required information into the appropriate systems.
• Provides a standard of excellence in customer service for patients and staff.
