Job summary

Wake Technical Community College seeks a part-time instructor for its Occupational Readiness reentry program. The instructor delivers Human Resource Development curricula to cohorts of incarcerated individuals preparing for release and employment.

The position requires creating lesson plans, guiding students through resumes and interview preparation, and maintaining records while coordinating with facility staff to ensure safety and compliance within NC Department Public Safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with experience in counseling, social work, or related field
• Experience with justice-involved populations in correctional or reentry settings

Responsibilities

• Prepares instruction reflecting learning objectives and develops handouts and classroom materials
• Facilitates group discussion and reflective writing in a trauma-informed correctional setting
• Guides students through transition plans, resumes, and interview preparation
• Maintains attendance, participation, and homework records; submits documentation on time
• Uses formative assessment to improve learning and teaching
• Counsels students regarding progress and course completion requirements
• Maintains a safe learning environment within facility rules and security protocols
• Coordinates with Instructional Supervisor and partners on scheduling and graduation
• Supports department and college goals, providing requested data in a timely manner
