Job summary

Georgetown University’s Prisons and Justice Initiative (PJI) seeks a licensed independent clinical social worker to support our reentry program participants, students and staff. The Staff Social Worker identifies needs, assesses clients, and refers them to community resources, while advocating for clients with government and nonprofit organizations to support their progress.

Based in Washington, DC, the role requires LICSW in DC, 5–7 years of experience, and both clinical and case-management

Qualifications

• Masters degree in social work required.
• LICSW in Washington, DC required.
• At least 5 to 7 years of work experience.
• Familiarity with DC and regional social services required.
• Both clinical and case management experience required.
• Experience planning and standardizing assessment and crisis responses to acute and emergent client needs.
• Experience managing and documenting cases and/or processes, producing reports and maintaining files.
• Proficient in the use of standard office software programs such as MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
• Excellent organizational and communications skills - both written and verbal.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communications skills -both written and verbal.
• Ability to work with and relate to individuals of diverse backgrounds, including the formerly incarcerated, and service providers within the criminal justice system in a professional and compassionate manner.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Ability to adhere to high standards of confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Identify client needs and assess situations to formulate goals and plans.
• Refer clients to community resources such as childcare and healthcare.
• Advocate for clients with government and nonprofit organizations and monitor progress.
• Maintain detailed case documentation and progress reports.
• Collaborate with program managers and other staff to coordinate services for participants.
