Job summary

The Idaho Department of Correction seeks an Employment Coordinator at the East Boise Community Reentry Center in Boise, Idaho. You will partner with residents, security, case management, and community partners to secure employment prior to release. The EBCRC houses female residents in a minimum custody setting.

You will screen applications, interview residents, assist with resumes, and build community partnerships to promote rehabilitation and successful reentry into the community.

Qualifications

• Minimum: coursework in social sciences or related internship, or 1 year full-time work with clients/offenders.
• Knowledge of hiring practices and job counseling; completion of related course or 3 months’ work experience.
• Knowledge of interviewing methods; at least 6 months experience or related training.
• Experience working with groups or individuals to promote a program.
• Experience giving public presentations; preparing oral reports as a primary responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Accepts and screens work release or work experience applications.
• Interviews residents to determine employment or training needs and matches jobs.
• Assist residents in creating resumes and interview skills.
• Make face-to-face presentations to community partners to promote hiring residents.
• Explain the Mission of the CRCs and department goals.
• Identify problems with programs and suggest corrective actions.
• Create and maintain Excel spreadsheets and reports.
• Monitor time and work records and ensure rules are followed.
