Job summary
Sonsray Machinery, Inc. is seeking a full-time Reefer Shop Technician in Fontana, CA to support the reliability and performance of transport refrigeration equipment. You will deliver quality workmanship and exceptional customer service in a fast-paced shop environment.
The role requires 3–5 years of hands-on experience with Thermo King, Carrier, APUs, and related systems, plus strong diagnostic tooling and safety awareness. Competitive benefits and a clear path for growth are provided.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years' experience diagnosing and repairing Thermo King, Carrier, APUs, gensets, and V-series units.
- Skilled in using diagnostic tools, scanners, and multi-meters.
- Knowledge of freon systems, leak detection, soldering, and refrigeration component replacement.
- EPA 608/609 certification preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in shop/outdoor conditions.
- Basic computer literacy for diagnostics and repair logging.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair components of truck, trailer, V-series refrigeration units, gensets, and APUs.
- Identify and repair failures, including removing, replacing, and testing components with a multi-meter.
- Address freon leaks, involving assembling, installing parts, soldering, and using refrigeration equipment.
- Perform preventive maintenance, component replacement, and service of refrigeration equipment.
- Maintain transport refrigeration systems on trucks, trailers, APUs, V-series units, gensets, and buses using scanners and onboard computers for diagnostics.
- Install new Thermo King units on trailers, trucks, V-series units, and APUs as required.
- Maintain accurate records of services and prepare estimates.
- Document repairs in shop orders.

Schedule - Monday-Friday 10:30am to 7pm
Salary Range: $27.09 To $45.99 depending on experience
Position Summary: The Shop Reefer Technician is responsible for supporting the reliability and performance of transport refrigeration equipment while delivering quality workmanship and exceptional customer service in a fast-paced shop environment.
Responsibilities:
Diagnosis & Repair:
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair components of truck, trailer, V-series refrigeration units, gensets, and APUs.
- Identify and repair failures, including removing, replacing, and testing components with a multi-meter.
- Address freon leaks, which involves assembling, installing parts, soldering, and utilizing specialized refrigeration equipment.
Maintenance & Installation:
- Perform preventive maintenance, component replacement, and service of refrigeration equipment.
- Maintain transport refrigeration systems on trucks, trailers, APUs, V-series units, gensets, and buses using scanners, electronic test equipment, and onboard computers for diagnostics.
- Install new Thermo King units on trailers, trucks, V-series units, and APUs as required.
Documentation & Communication:
- Maintain accurate records of transport refrigeration unit services on trucks, trailers, APUs, and gensets by reviewing shop orders and preparing estimates.
- Document the details of repairs needed or completed.
General Duties: Perform other duties and functions as directed by management to support the dealership's objectives.

- Skilled in using diagnostic tools, scanners, and multi-meters.
