Job summary

The State of Florida is seeking an Environmental Specialist III to support the Coral Reef Conservation Program in West Palm Beach. The role leads reef resilience initiatives, coordinates multi-stakeholder projects, and drives adaptive management for Southeast Florida coral ecosystems.

Responsibilities include budgeting, grant management, data analysis, and preparing technical reports, with occasional field work and travel.

Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of verifiable related experience in marine environmental or biological sciences or equivalent.
  • Post-secondary degrees may substitute years of experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Must have valid driver license for local travel; willingness to travel.
  • Must be certified scuba diver with Advanced Open Water or higher (or obtain within 1 year).

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning and implementation of Reef Resilience local action strategy projects.
  • Coordinate with SEFCRI Team and stakeholders to advance reef resilience and restoration.
  • Develop and manage grants, budgets, and contracts for assigned projects.
  • Prepare technical reports and program/project documents and maintain records.
  • Represent DEP and CRCP in meetings and outreach activities.
