Job summary

Republic Services in Memphis is seeking a dedicated Sorter to efficiently process incoming recyclable materials and ensure outbound commodities meet buyer specifications. You will sort and segregate items such as aluminum, plastic, glass, and paper, deposit materials safely into chutes, and cooperate with hand and machine operators to maintain smooth operations.

Qualifications

• Experience sorting recyclable materials in a recycling facility.

Responsibilities

• Sort and segregate recoverable materials from incoming waste (e.g., aluminum, plastic, glass, paper).
• Deposit recoverable materials into the proper chute safely and efficiently.
• Assist other sorters with heavy or bulky items as needed.
• Follow all safety policies and stop the conveyor belt in emergencies when required.
• Inspect incoming loads for unacceptable waste and remove items as needed.
• Communicate with equipment operators about loads requiring special attention.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
