Job summary

Republic Services is hiring a Sorter to safely and efficiently process incoming recyclable materials so that outbound commodities meet sale requirements to brokers or mills. The role involves sorting materials, depositing them into the correct chute, and assisting with heavy items.

Applicants should have prior experience in a recycling facility and will follow all safety policies, including emergency shutdowns.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a Recycling Facility sorting recyclable materials.

Responsibilities

• Sort and segregate recoverable materials from incoming waste.
• Deposit recoverable materials into the appropriate chute.
• Assist other sorters on an as-needed basis with heavy or bulky items.
• Follow all safety policies, including stopping the conveyor belt in emergencies.
• Inspect incoming loads for unacceptable waste and remove such items as required.
• Communicate with equipment operators regarding loads that require special attention.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
