Job summary

Republic Services is hiring a Sorter to safely and efficiently process incoming recyclable materials so that outbound commodities are acceptable for sale to brokers or mills. You will sort and segregate recoverable materials, deposit them into the correct chute, and assist with heavy items while adhering to all safety policies.

Additionally, you will inspect loads for unacceptable waste, remove nonconforming items, and maintain clear communication with equipment operators about special loads.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working in a Recycling Facility sorting recyclable materials.

Responsibilities

• Sort and segregate recoverable materials from incoming waste.
• Deposit recoverable materials into the appropriate chute safely and efficiently.
• Assist other sorters with heavy or bulky items as needed.
• Follow safety policies and stop the conveyor belt in emergencies.
• Inspect incoming loads for unacceptable waste and remove items as required.
• Communicate with equipment operators about loads requiring special attention.
