Job summary

Guilford County seeks a Recycling Site Operator to perform manual labor tasks at the county Recycling Facility, handling electronics, tires and commingled recyclables. The role includes stopping, loading and unloading materials, processing payments, and maintaining site records.

A Class B CDL and forklift/skid steer experience are required. Graduation from high school or GED and valid driver’s license are essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic arithmetic and ability to maintain accurate records.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Physical condition suitable for extended walking/standing and operating equipment.
• Ability to communicate effectively and follow directions.
• Ability to operate assigned equipment.
• Ability to make sound decisions in job functions.

Responsibilities

• Accepts electronics from the public and prepares items for transport.
• Accepts tires from residents and businesses per NC statutes.
• Accepts comingled recyclables from the public.
• Tends the collection facility office and determines residency and charges.
• Issues receipts and accounts for money received.
• Maintains daily records for revenues, traffic and disposal volumes.
• Provides information to the public and directs traffic at the site.
• Performs safety inspections and maintains site facilities.
• Operates front-end loaders, skid steers, forklifts and related equipment.
• Keeps loading dock clear of debris and performs related duties.
