Job summary

The City of Abilene is seeking a capable Recycling Center Specialist to operate front loaders, roll-off trucks and grinders, and train staff in safe operation of routes. The role involves preventive maintenance, grounds upkeep, and ensuring safety compliance across recycling operations.

Required high school diploma or GED and a Texas Class B CDL; 18 months of relevant equipment experience preferred; strong customer service and accurate record keeping are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year using business computers, email, POS terminals preferred.
• 18 months experience operating Commercial Roll Off Vehicles, Wheel Loaders and farm-type tractors preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in collection of offsite recycle routes operating a roll-off or front loader truck.
• Perform daily and weekly preventive maintenance on farm tractor and wheel loaders.
• Maintain buildings and grounds; manage tree limb service areas for safety and appearance.
• Operate tractors/front loaders to assist in chipping, mulch loading, and grounds maintenance.
• Perform or assist in tree limb grinding operations and offsite recycle collection routes.
• Follow safety rules and report unsafe conditions, accidents and injuries.
