Job summary

The City of Abilene Environmental Recycling Center is seeking a dependable Recycle Center Specialist to operate front loaders, grinders, and other recycling equipment. You will support safety training, perform routine maintenance, and assist with grounds upkeep in a busy municipal setting.

Strong reading/writing skills and basic cash handling experience are needed. A High school diploma or GED is required, and a Texas Class B CDL is preferred where applicable.

Qualifications

• Experience with operating recycling program equipment and safe procedures.
• Ability to read and write records and reports accurately.
• Basic customer service skills and cash handling knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Operate front loader, grinder, wheel loaders, and roll-off trucks as assigned.
• Provide basic supervision when training new staff on safe operations.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tractors and loaders as directed.
• Maintain grounds and assist in chiping and mulch loading tasks.
• Follow safety rules and report unsafe conditions immediately.
