Job summary

Horizon Recuperative Care in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking a dedicated Caregiver to assist residents in daily living activities and provide compassionate support within a homeless shelter setting.

The role emphasizes safety, mobility support, medication assistance under supervision, social engagement, and a clean living environment. Previous shelter experience and bilingual ability are a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience as caregiver or support staff is a plus.
• Bilingual preferred.
• Experience in homeless shelters or similar settings.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to collaborate in a team and handle challenging scenarios with tact.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and eating.
• Provide assistance with mobility, transfers, and positioning to ensure residents' safety and comfort.
• Administer medications and assist with medication management under supervision of licensed nursing staff.
• Monitor residents' health and well-being, reporting changes to appropriate personnel.
• Engage residents in meaningful activities and social interactions to promote socialization and mental stimulation.
• Maintain a clean and organized living environment for residents, including resident rooms, common areas, and dining areas.
• Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a caring and supportive atmosphere.

• Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards individuals from diverse backgrounds, including the homeless population.
• Capacity to effectively collaborate within a team dynamic and navigate challenging scenarios with sensitivity and tact.
