Job summary

Horizon Center San Diego is hiring a Caregiver/Support Staff to assist residents with daily living activities, mobility, and medication management in a compassionate, stable environment. The role emphasizes safety, social engagement, and quality of care for an underserved population.

Qualifications

• Experience as caregiver or support staff is a plus.
• Incorporating Harm Reduction, Informed Trauma Training and De-escalation techniques.
• Past caregiving roles, ideally in shelters or similar settings.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities with a compassionate, non-judgmental demeanor.
• Compassionate, empathetic attitude toward diverse, underserved individuals.
• Ability to collaborate within a team and handle challenging situations with tact and sensitivity.

Responsibilities

• Provide mobility, transfers, and positioning support for safety and comfort.
• Administer medications and assist with medication management under licensed staff supervision.
• Monitor health and well-being; report changes or concerns to appropriate personnel.
• Engage residents in meaningful activities and social interactions to promote socialization and mental stimulation.
• Maintain clean and organized living areas including rooms, common spaces, and dining areas.
• Provide emotional support and companionship to residents.
