Job summary

The Eugene Family YMCA is seeking a Recruiting Specialist to coordinate full-cycle recruitment across the organization, engaging with hiring managers and community partners to fill positions efficiently while upholding the Y's mission and culture.

You will source candidates through multiple channels, screen applicants, schedule interviews, and guide new hires through onboarding in a fast-paced nonprofit environment. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in recruiting, talent acquisition, or HR.
  • Experience coordinating multiple searches or hiring processes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience screening and interviewing candidates for various roles.
  • Familiarity with HR tech, job boards, and core business software.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate full-cycle recruitment including postings, sourcing, screening, scheduling, and onboarding.
  • Partner with managers to clarify staffing needs and timelines.
  • Source candidates via job boards, social media, referrals, and community networks.
  • Conduct initial screenings and provide qualified recommendations to hiring managers.

Position Summary

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.

Essential Functions
  • Coordinates full-cycle recruitment across the organization, including job postings, sourcing, application review, initial screening, interview scheduling, candidate communication, references, offers, pre-employment requirements, and transition to onboarding.
  • Partners with hiring managers to clarify staffing needs, position requirements, hiring timelines, and candidate profiles; recommends practical recruiting approaches for high-volume and difficult-to-fill positions.
  • Actively sources candidates through job boards, social media, referrals, community partnerships, colleges and universities, workforce organizations, professional networks, job fairs, and other creative channels.
  • Conducts initial candidate screenings to assess qualifications, interest, availability, compensation expectations, and alignment with the Y's mission and culture; provides hiring managers with qualified candidate recommendations.
  • Coordinates interview processes and maintains timely, professional communication with candidates and hiring managers throughout selection and hiring.
  • Prepares and maintains job postings, recruiting materials, interview resources, candidate records, hiring documentation, and accurate information within applicant tracking and HR systems.
  • Coordinates references, background checks, required credentials, and other pre-employment requirements; works with HR and hiring managers to ensure a smooth handoff into new-hire onboarding.
  • Represents the Y at job fairs, hiring events, schools, and community organizations and develops ongoing relationships that strengthen talent pipelines.
  • Supports the Y's employer brand by communicating our mission, culture, employee experience, career opportunities, and community impact authentically and consistently.
  • Tracks recruiting activity and key measures such as applicant flow, time-to-fill, source effectiveness, hiring outcomes, and recurring staffing challenges; identifies opportunities to improve recruiting effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Maintains awareness of recruiting trends and local labor-market conditions and brings forward recommendations to strengthen the Y's ability to attract and hire talent.
  • Supports seasonal and high-volume hiring initiatives and other HR projects and administrative needs as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least 3-1/2 years of experience in recruiting, talent acquisition, human resources, staffing, or a closely related field; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Previous experience coordinating multiple searches or hiring processes simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience screening and interviewing candidates and assessing qualifications for a variety of positions.
  • Previous experience with applicant tracking systems, HR technology, job boards, and core business software, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Previous experience managing detailed administrative work accurately while maintaining responsiveness, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience recruiting for a YMCA, nonprofit, education, childcare, recreation, healthcare, hospitality, or other high-volume/service-oriented organization.
  • Experience recruiting for a combination of professional, frontline, part-time, and seasonal positions.
  • Experience developing community recruiting partnerships and representing an organization at job fairs or hiring events.
  • Experience using recruiting data and metrics to improve hiring outcomes.
  • Conversational fluency in Spanish.
