Job summary

Volunteers of America Mid-States is seeking a Recruiting Coordinator to provide comprehensive administrative support across the recruitment lifecycle. You will manage job postings, source candidates, screen applicants, coordinate interviews, and handle onboarding handoffs within our ATS/HRIS system.

Ideal candidates bring 2+ years in recruiting or HR support, strong organization and communication skills, and a passion for nonprofit health and social services work. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in recruiting, human resources, staffing, or a related administrative role.
• Experience using an applicant tracking system (ATS) and/or HRIS preferred.
• Strong organizational, time-management, communication, and follow-through skills.
• Ability to manage multiple vacancies and competing priorities with attention to detail.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive candidate and employee information.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office or comparable productivity software.
• Experience in nonprofit, healthcare, behavioral health or high-volume recruitment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process approved Request to Post and Request to Hire forms and verify information.
• Create, publish, refresh, and close job postings on career sites and boards.
• Source candidates through job boards, networks, schools, and outreach.
• Review applications and resumes against qualifications; conduct initial phone screens.
• Coordinate interviews; provide confirmations and instructions; obtain timely feedback.
• Conduct or coordinate reference checks and pre-employment screenings.
• Prepare offer documentation; track outcomes; transition hires to onboarding.
• Maintain ATS/HRIS records; protect confidentiality and retention requirements.
• Coordinate recruitment events, outreach, and marketing activities.
• Provide pipeline updates to hiring managers and improve recruitment processes.
