Job summary

Dawson is seeking a seasoned HR leader to oversee the day-to-day HR function in a fast-paced distribution and logistics environment in Columbus, OH. This direct-hire role focuses on partnering with site leadership to drive workforce strategy and employee engagement.

You will lead employee relations, recruitment for large call center classes, and workforce planning while ensuring compliance with US labor laws and company policies. A dynamic, strategic partner is required.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
• 5–7+ years of HR leadership or HR Manager experience in distribution, logistics, manufacturing, warehousing, or similar environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead employee relations activities including coaching, performance management, investigations, corrective action, and conflict resolution.
• Lead recruitment for large call center classes.
• Partner with site leadership on workforce planning, development, organizational changes, and day-to-day people initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws and company policies.
• Analyze turnover, retention, recruiting, staffing, and HR metrics to drive improvements.
• Oversee workers’ compensation, safety initiatives, and return-to-work programs.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead employee relations activities including coaching, performance management, workplace investigations, corrective action, and conflict resolution
• Lead recruiting efford for large call center classes
• Serve as a strategic HR partner to site leadership and managers on workforce planning, employee development, organizational changes, and day-to-day people initiatives
• Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws, company policies, and workplace regulations
• Analyze turnover, retention, recruiting, staffing, and other HR metrics to identify trends and develop strategies that strengthen workforce performance
• Manage Workers’ Compensation, modified duty, return-to-work programs, OSHA requirements, and workplace safety initiatives
• Drive employee engagement, recognition, retention, and culture-building programs while developing strong relationships with employees at all levels
• Oversee employee onboarding, offboarding, compensation changes, employee data updates, and other HR operational processes
• Manage recruitment and workforce planning activities including contingent labor programs and relationships with recruiting and staffing vendors
• Coordinate required employee training while supporting leadership development, succession planning, and ongoing employee development initiatives
• Provide guidance to employees and leaders regarding policies, compensation, benefits, performance, and other HR-related matters

What We’re Looking For:

• Fluency in both English and Spanish required
• 5-7+ years of Human Resources leadership or HR Manager experience within distribution, logistics, manufacturing, warehousing, or a similar operational environment
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred
• Strong employee relations experience with the ability to conduct investigations, coach leaders, manage corrective action, and navigate sensitive workplace situations
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. employment laws and regulations including ADA, ADEA, EEO, FLSA, FMLA, HIPAA, and Wage & Hour requirements
• Experience supporting Workers’ Compensation, workplace safety, OSHA compliance, and return-to-work programs
• Strong understanding of recruiting, workforce planning, employee engagement, performance management, compensation, and HR operations
• Relationship-focused and approachable HR leader who can remain objective and unbiased while maintaining a positive, upbeat presence
• Excellent communication, judgment, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to effectively partner with both frontline employees and senior leadership
• PHR or SPHR certification preferred
