Job summary

AvaMed Workforce is seeking a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) for a full-time Recreation Therapist role in Wasco, CA. The position involves developing and implementing recreation therapy services for Patient-Inmates and DJJ Youth, and coordinating with IDTT to support treatment goals.

Requirements include CTRS certification and at least 1 year of CTRS experience. Schedule is Tuesday–Friday, 7:00am–5:00pm, with orientation 1–2 weeks. Compensation is $54/hr, location Wasco, CA.

Qualifications

• Full-time, 40-hour week in Wasco, CA.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement specialized recreation therapy services to Patient-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth.
• Participate in the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDTT) and coordinate with primary clinicians and custody staff.
• Evaluate recreation therapy needs focusing on daily living, communication, physical exercise and coping strategies.

AvaMed Workforce is a Healthcare Staffing Agency that staffs all of California State Correctional Facilities. At the moment we are in URGENT need of a Recreational Therapist to take on a Full-Time assignment at the correctional facility located in Wasco, CA.

Position Details:

• 40 Hours per week
• Location: Wasco, CA
• Schedule: Tuesday-Friday 7:00am-5:00pm

• Rate: $54/hr ($2,160/week)

Job Description:

Under the direction of the Institution’s/Facility’s designee, Recreation Therapist’s duties/responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to, the following requirements.

• Develop and implement specialized recreation therapy services to Patient-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth. Such therapeutic interventions are designed to promote social interaction, to encourage beneficial and appropriate utilization of leisure time, and to provide Patient-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth with preparation for reentry into general population or other levels of treatment.
• Participate in the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDTT) and coordinate services with primary clinicians, correctional counselors and other custody personnel.
• Evaluate recreation therapy needs for Patients-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth with particular attention to activities of daily living, communication skills, physical exercise, and positive coping strategies.
