Job summary

AvaMed Workforce in Delano, CA is seeking a Recreational Therapist for a full-time assignment at a correctional facility. The position requires CTRS certification and at least one full year of CTRS experience, with a Mon-Thu schedule and orientation period.

Rate is $54/hr (approximately $2,160 weekly); 40 hours per week. Complete orientation of 1-2 weeks is included, with duties to develop and supervise recreation therapy services for patient-inmates and DJJ Youth.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement recreation therapy services to Patient-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth to promote social interaction and preparation for reentry.
• Participate in the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDTT) and coordinate services with primary clinicians, correctional counselors and custody personnel.
• Evaluate recreation therapy needs with attention to activities of daily living, communication skills, physical exercise, and coping strategies.

AvaMed Workforce is a Healthcare Staffing Agency that staffs all of California State Correctional Facilities. At the moment we are in URGENT need of a Recreational Therapist to take on a Full-Time assignment at the correctional facility located in Delano, CA.

Position Details:

40 Hours per week

Location: Delano, CA

Schedule: Monday-Thursday 7:00am-5:00pm

(Orientation 1-2 weeks)

Job Description:

Under the direction of the Institution’s/Facility’s designee, Recreation Therapist’s duties/responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to, the following requirements.

• a. Develop and implement specialized recreation therapy services to Patient-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth. Such therapeutic interventions are designed to promote social interaction, to encourage beneficial and appropriate utilization of leisure time, and to provide Patient-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth with preparation for reentry into general population or other levels of treatment.
• b. Participate in the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDTT) and coordinate services with primary clinicians, correctional counselors and other custody personnel.
• c. Evaluate recreation therapy needs for Patients-Inmates and/or DJJ Youth with particular attention to activities of daily living, communication skills, physical exercise, and positive coping strategies.
