Swim Angelfish is seeking a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) to join our team as a Recreational Therapist – Adaptive Aquatics Coordinator. This role blends direct swim sessions with staff coaching and program development to support swimmers of varying abilities.

Ideal candidates hold a CTRS credential, a bachelor’s or higher in Therapeutic Recreation, and experience with children and individuals with disabilities, including autism or sensory needs.

• Assess swimmer strengths, challenges, participation barriers, and goals.

• Serve as a resource for instructors working with complex swimmers.
• Observe, mentor, and coach adaptive swim instructors.

• Assist with staff training, program development, and quality improvement.

This unique role combines direct work with swimmers, adaptive aquatics, staff coaching, and program development. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children and individuals with disabilities and is excited to use their recreational therapy background in an aquatic setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreational Therapy, or related qualifying field.
• Active CTRS credential required.
• Experience working with children and individuals with disabilities.
• Experience with autism, developmental disabilities, or sensory-related needs strongly preferred.
• Aquatics, adaptive recreation, or swim instruction experience preferred.
• Comfortable and confident working in the water.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days.
