Job summary

CELTS Aquatics Group is seeking an entry-level swim instructor to provide one-on-one or small group aquatic lessons tailored to each swimmer's needs, focusing on safety, water survival skills, confidence, and independence.

You will adapt curricula for autism, ADHD, or physical limitations, track progress, and build trust with students. On-the-job training will certify you in the CELTS Adaptive Swim program.

Qualifications

• Entry level; on-the-job training provided.
• Background in special education, therapy, or care-giving preferred but not required.
• Willingness to learn CELTS Adaptive Swim program.

Responsibilities

The instructor provides one-on-one or small group aquatic lessons tailored to each swimmer's unique sensory, behavioral, and physical needs. The main goal is to build water survival skills, confidence, and independence in a safe and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Adapt Lessons: Modify standard swim curriculums to match the student's abilities, pace, and specific needs (such as autism, ADHD, or physical limitations).


• Ensure Safety: Monitor swimmers closely in and around the water to maintain a secure environment.


• Build Rapport: Use patience, empathy, and positive reinforcement to reduce anxiety and establish trust with the student.


• Track Progress: Document student milestones and challenges during lessons

Qualifications And Skills

• Swimming Proficiency: Strong water safety skills. Will train in technique and CELTS specific Adaptive Program.


• Experience or Background: Entry Level, will train the right candidate. Prior work or experience or education in special education, therapeutic recreation, occupational therapy, behavioral therapy, or care-giving is preferred, but not required.


• Certifications: Will train the right candidate and certify in CELTS Adaptive Swim program.


• Soft Skills: Exceptional patience, calm presence, flexibility, and strong interpersonal communication.
