COMPENSATION

Hourly Pay Range: $22.981132 - $34.785454

Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on the candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District (NCPRD) is looking for dynamic instructors to develop and instruct recreational and enrichment classes at Concord Community Center. If you are passionate about teaching and love creating fun, educational experiences, we want to hear from you! This position is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited position.

ABOUT THE ROLE: As an instructor, you’ll design and lead youth and/or adult enrichment classes – such as dance, nature and outdoor education, STEM, and more. Instruction may take place indoors or outdoors, depending on the class format. We are specifically seeking instructors with experience in areas such as dance, STEM, music instruction, or similar subjects for classes at our Concord Community Center. Candidates with other areas of expertise are also encouraged to apply.

Recreational & Enrichment Instructors Lead classes focused on personal growth, creativity, and enrichment. You'll design your class content and guide participants through hands-on activities in a positive, inclusive environment.

Required Minimum Qualifications/Transferrable Skills:

• Knowledge of theory, principles, and practices of instructing youth and/or adults in a recreational/enrichment subject or activity
• Demonstrated skills and experience within your specific instructional subject
• Availability to teach evening and weekend classes, with some daytime availability depending on the age group served

Preferred Qualifications/Transferrable Skills:

• Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English is preferred but not required

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Physical ability to instruct assigned classes
• Must pass a criminal history check, which may include a national or state fingerprint records check

Post-Employment Requirements:

• Completion of bloodborne pathogen training within six months
• Certification in CPR, AED, and First Aid (American Red Cross) within six months of hire

• Design and deliver age-appropriate curriculum based on current best practices and adapt instruction for varying skill levels
• Create a welcoming, encouraging environment
• Support and encourage participants, offering guidance and skill-building tips
• Communicate clearly and positively with participants of all backgrounds
• Enjoy being part of a collaborative and community-focused team, and are committed to excellent customer service
• Lead safe, engaging group classes and demonstrate proper use of materials and equipment
• Set up and clean up class spaces, ensuring tools and equipment are maintained and stored properly
• Track attendance, collect feedback, and incorporate improvements based on evaluations
• Enforce safety protocols and respond to emergencies as needed
• Collaborate with coordinator to plan and schedule classes

WORK SCHEDULE

Selected candidates must be available to teach evening and weekend classes, with some daytime availability depending on the age group served.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Duties require differing physical demands associated with the course content and environment/location of the class being instructed.

Typical physical demands for group recreational/enrichment classes require frequent standing, walking, sitting, stooping, bending, squatting, lifting, climbing, twisting, reaching, balancing, grasping, and fine motor control

North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District (NCPRD) is a service district of Clackamas County dedicated to providing exceptional parks, recreation programs, facilities, and services. Formed in 1990 through voter approval, NCPRD was created to meet the growing need for parks and recreation services in the northern end of the county.

Today, NCPRD serves more than 106,000 residents across a 27-square-mile area, including the city of Milwaukie and surrounding unincorporated Clackamas County. The district features 35 parks and natural areas, two special purpose areas, and three trails and greenways, including the 6-mile Trolley Trail. Residents also enjoy access to three unique facilities, including North Clackamas Aquatic Park, Concord Community Center, and Milwaukie Community Center. Through protected green spaces and a wide variety of recreational programs, NCPRD provides opportunities for all ages to connect, stay active, and explore the outdoors.
