COMPENSATION

Annual Pay Range: $43,556 - $54,726

Hourly Pay Range: $20.94 - $26.31

Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on the candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

JOB DETAILS AND QUALIFICATIONS

The North Clackamas Parks & Recreation District (NCPRD) is seeking an Aquatic Park Shift Coordinator to help lead the day-to-day operations of the North Clackamas Aquatic Park. In this role, you will help ensure the facility, programs, equipment, and services operate safely and efficiently while creating a positive experience for patrons of all ages.

Working closely with the Aquatic and Recreation Supervisor, you will coordinate daily activities, swim lessons, facility rentals, staff scheduling, training, and other operational needs. During your shift, you will monitor facility and equipment operations, identify and address safety hazards, respond to customer concerns, and resolve operational issues. You will also take a leadership role during emergencies by activating the Emergency Action Plan and responding to rescues, first-aid incidents, and hazardous material clean-up.

Customer service is an important part of this role. You will assist patrons in person and by phone, support registrations and facility bookings, investigate and document complaints and safety concerns, and help maintain a welcoming environment. You may also coordinate and provide aquatic and safety training, serve as a lead guard, teach swim lessons or aquatic exercise classes, and perform other hands‑on duties as needed.

Required Minimum Qualifications/Transferrable Skills:*

• The following licensure/certifications are required at the time of hire:
  • Lifeguarding (including Deep Water) with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid or equivalent
• Experience directly interacting with customers and young children in an aquatic facility
• Experience ensuring implementation of safety training programs and compliance with safety procedures and regulations
• Experience assisting with programs and/or events
• Experience resolving customer complaints
• Ability to work early mornings as part of a regular work schedule
• Ability to provide emergency, on‑call, and after‑hours responses

Preferred Qualifications/Transferrable Skills:*

• Experience handling chemicals for pools within an aquatic setting
• Current CPO (Certified Pool Operator) and/or AFO (Aquatic Facility Operator) certifications
• Experience working with Automated Logic for facility controls or have taken BASIC controls coursework from Clima-tech
• Experience instructing aquatic exercise classes
• Lead work experience
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or related spreadsheet software

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Must pass a post‑offer, pre‑employment drug test
• Must pass a criminal history check, which may include a national or state fingerprint records check

Post-Employment Requirements:

• After one (1) month of hire, perform NCAP deep water* swim test and tread with brick for 2 minutes**
• Throughout employment, must maintain ability to perform NCAP deep water* swim test and tread with brick for 2 minutes**

TYPICAL TASKS

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Coordinates activity scheduling for the facility and assists the Aquatic and Recreation Supervisor with swim lessons and facility rentals.
• Coordinates efficient operations of aquatic park equipment and facilities; identifies and assesses safety hazards within the Aquatic Park; recommends and implements solutions as needed; leads response to emergencies; activates the Emergency Action Plan as needed for all types of emergencies, including rescues and hazardous waste clean‑up of feces, vomit, and blood; ensures lifeguards can return to focus after emergencies and resume safety scanning responsibilities.
• Uses software programs to manage registration and facility bookings and serves as an ongoing customer service contact for the Parks District.
• Provides customer service in person and on the phone and assists in administering aquatic park operations, training, and scheduling aquatic staff.
• Performs clerical duties to promote and maintain effective program services and procedures and enters data from a variety of documents into a computer terminal.
• Responds to and investigates safety‑related complaints and issues; documents patron complaints, first‑aid incidents, staff issues, and equipment deficiencies; recommends solutions.
• Performs duties as lead guard, teaches swim lessons, and instructs aquatic exercise as needed. Coordinates and presents aquatic and safety training for patrons and staff; reviews training and course qualifications and makes safety certification recommendations.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position works 40 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Friday. This position's expected schedule is:

• Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 4:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
• Tuesday and Thursday: 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended.

This position is designated as on‑site/in‑person. It is expected that the selected candidate will perform duties at the specified on‑site work location.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District operates 7 days per week, which requires staffing of Sports and Recreation Program Shift Coordinators, as assigned, for all shifts. Positions may be assigned to workday or evening shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Duties require frequent to continuous standing, walking, sitting, stooping, bending, squatting, lifting, climbing, twisting, reaching, balancing, grasping, and fine motor control. Duties also involve prolonged exposure to water, humidity/heat, loud noise, slippery and uneven surfaces, pool chemicals, dust, and dealing with distraught or difficult people.
