Job summary

Women In Need (Win) in New York is seeking a Recreation Associate to create safe, engaging experiences for children and families living in shelter. You will support educational and recreational programming that reflects diverse backgrounds and promotes positive child development.

You will plan activities, supervise field trips, work with shelter staff, and help build partnerships to expand free and low-cost activities. A high school diploma and 2 years' experience are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• At least 2 years of experience providing educational, recreational, or youth development programming for children.
• Ability to build trusting and supportive relationships with children and parents.

Responsibilities

• Plan and facilitate recreational, educational, and social activities for children, youth, and families.
• Support the coordination of special events and holiday celebrations that reflect the cultural diversity of our communities.
• Build partnerships with community organizations to expand access to free and low-cost activities and resources.
• Escort and supervise children and youth during field trips, community outings, and program activities.
• Monitor recreational equipment and help maintain a safe environment for all participants.
• Collaborate with shelter staff, Childcare Services, and multidisciplinary teams to support child development goals.
• Maintain activity records, documentation, and reports in a timely and accurate manner.
• Provide feedback and recommendations to strengthen programs and ensure activities meet the needs of children and families.
