Job summary

Women In Need, Inc. (Win) is seeking a Recreation Associate in New York, NY at $17.82 per hour. You will support educational and recreational programs for children and families living in shelter, promoting safety and inclusive activities.

You will plan and facilitate a wide range of activities, supervise field trips, and work with shelter staff to advance child development and family well-being in a culturally responsive environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in educational, recreational, or youth programming.
• Ability to build trusting relationships with children and parents.

Responsibilities

• Plan, facilitate recreational, educational, and social activities for children, youth, and families.
• Coordinate special events and holiday celebrations reflecting cultural diversity.
• Build partnerships with community organizations to expand access to activities and resources.
• Escort and supervise children during field trips and program activities.
• Monitor equipment and maintain a safe environment for all participants.
• Collaborate with shelter staff and multidisciplinary teams to support child development goals.
• Maintain activity records, documentation, and reports in a timely manner.
• Provide feedback to strengthen programs and meet needs of children and families.
