Job summary

The City of O'Fallon is seeking a self-motivated, customer service‑oriented Recreation Specialist to join our Aquatics team. You will oversee staff, facility operations, customer service and admin duties for aquatics programs.

You will hire, train, schedule, evaluate and supervise 100+ Lifeguards and Swim Instructors, while guiding a full‑time Pool Supervisor and serving as Manager on Duty. This role also manages program budgets and reports.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Missouri driver's license.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays or irregular hours.
• Ability to obtain a first-aid/CPR card.
• Lifeguard Instructor, Certified Pool Operator or related certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee staff, facility operations, customer service and admin duties for aquatics.
• Hire, train, schedule, evaluate and supervise 100+ lifeguards and instructors.
• Guide daily operations for a Pool Supervisor and act as Manager on Duty.

The City of O'Fallon is seeking a self‑motivated, customer service-oriented Recreation Specialist to join our Aquatics team. Our Recreation Specialists earn competitive hourly wages ranging from $25.98 to $38.97 (top of grade). First‑year employees typically start between $25.98 and $30.29 per hour.

TheRecreation Specialistfor our Aquatics department plays a central role in the successful operation of O'Fallon's aquatics programming by overseeing staff, facility operations, customer service, and administrative functions. The Recreation Specialist hires, trains, schedules, evaluates, and supervises part‑time aquatics personnel, including more than 100 Lifeguards and Swim Instructors, while also providing daily guidance to a full‑time Pool Supervisor. They plan, develop, and manage a variety of recreational and aquatic programs, coordinate with city departments and community partners, and serve as Manager on Duty to ensure smooth facility operations and positive customer experiences. Responsibilities include managing day‑to‑day operations at Alligator's Creek Aquatic Center and the Renaud Center, assisting with maintenance and filtration systems, responding to after‑hours emergencies, and addressing customer concerns. The role also encompasses administrative duties such as researching and preparing reports, overseeing program budgets, purchasing equipment and supplies, and developing program materials like manuals, rules, and announcements.
