Job summary

Gulfshoresal is seeking an Aquatics Specialist to provide exceptional guest service at the Aquatic Park. You will help manage Learn-To-Swim, Volunteen staff, special events, and private rentals while assisting the Aquatics Manager with daily park program development.

The role requires handling finances, accurate record-keeping, and promoting safety across facilities. Candidates should be ready to coordinate schedules, lead activities, and respond to emergencies as needed.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Experience with aquatic facility operations or lifeguard duties is preferred.
  • Willingness to pass Lifeguard, Lifeguard Instructor, and CPO certifications within six months.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to guests.
  • Handle sales of programs and rentals.
  • Prepare receipts, deposits, and reports on a timely basis.
  • Invoicing and payment collection for private programs.
  • Organize Learn-To-Swim and Volunteen activities and scheduling.
  • Oversee facility entrances, restrooms, and office spaces.
  • Assist with event activities and scheduling of aquatic programs.
  • Administer emergency care when needed.
  • Maintain pool chemical readings and safety inspections.
  • May perform other department duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Aquatics Manager, the Aquatics Specialist provides excellent customer service to guests of the Aquatic Park. The position is responsible for the accuracy of financial, attendance, and facility records. The Aquatics Specialist organizes key parts of the Learn-To-Swim Program, Volunteen staff, special events, public relations, and private party rentals. This position assists the Aquatics Manager on a daily basis with on-going park program developments.

Examples of Duties
  • Provides excellent customer service by responding promptly to guest requests and needs .
  • Conducts telephone, computer and counter sales of all programs and rentals .
  • Responsible for preparing accurate receipts, deposits, and written reports on a timely basis .
  • Responsible for invoicing and payment collection from private programs .
  • Responsible for creating and maintaining monthly contracts from private programs .
  • Oversees organization, safety and appearance of facility entrances, restrooms and office .
  • Responsible for organizing, and leading special event activities at the facility .
  • Oversees the schedule for Aquatic Programs .
  • Makes promotional group presentations, flyers, news articles, exhibits, and displays .
  • Substitutes for Gate Clerk in the summer .
  • Responsible for Volunteen Program and Learn-To-Swim Instructors with scheduling and paperwork .
  • Seasonal duties to include: preparation of employment packets, annual budget research, Lifeguard trainings and
  • certifications for facility staff.
  • Administers emergency care when needed .
  • Responsible for Community and/or City Employee CPR training as needed .
  • Maintains daily pool chemical readings and building safety inspection, makes adjustment when needed .
  • Responsible for managing the facility during evening programs
  • Inventories and inspects emergency equipment and office supplies. Makes purchases when needed .
  • May be required to perform other department duties as assigned .Communicate effectively and courteously with guests, venders, customers, and staff in writing, via the internet,
  • and by phone.
  • Ability to cope with large crowds and noise levels
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time in extreme temperatures .
  • Ability to work extended days or flexible hours including evenings and Weekends .
  • Ability to push, pull, lift, draq, or carrv up to 40 pounds of supplies or equipment.
Typical Qualifications

Type 35 w.p.m.; operate a calculator; and hav?? knowledge of various software applications (Word 2000, E xcel). Ability to Learn Amelia and Corel computer applications, and water chemistry balancing skills. Accurately handle money and compile detailed information in reporting format. Skillful in writing and creating promotional materials. Experience in public speaking. Must set positive leadership role, display sound judgment, and ability to be flexible. Able to make on the spot, quick decisions to insure safety of all users of the pool areas.

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED equivalent. TX drivers license with an acceptable driving record and must pass a criminal background check. Experience in dealing with functions of an aquatic facility preferred. Ability to pass and maintain Lifeguard, Lifeguard Instructor, and CPO certifications within six months of start date.
