Job summary

The City of Mesa is recruiting for part-time, non-benefited Recreation Specialists for the fall season, with year-round opportunities. These roles may run 19 hours per week year-round and require flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.

Recreation Specialists independently develop and supervise programs across adaptive, aquatics, athletics, centers, and more, supervising staff and volunteers while ensuring safety and compliance with department rules.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years recreation experience preferred.
• Associate’s degree or 2 years of college coursework required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and supervise specialized recreation programs for target populations.
• Plan, organize, promote, operate, and manage a recreation area or facility.
• Supervise part-time staff, temporary agency workers, affiliates, and volunteers.
• Coordinate with City departments, schools and participants using written and verbal communication.
• Maintain safety practices and enforce departmental rules.
