Job summary

City of Prescott is seeking a Recreation Coordinator to plan, coordinate, and oversee a range of recreational programs, classes, and events for youth, adults, seniors, and families. The role emphasizes delivering inclusive opportunities and partnering with staff and community partners to enhance quality of life.

The ideal candidate will manage multiple programs, supervise part‑time staff and volunteers, and ensure safety and compliance while promoting community engagement and high‑quality

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Parks & Recreation Management, Recreation Administration, Event Management, or related field preferred.
• Minimum of two (2) years coordinating programs, camps, classes, or events for youth, teens, adults and seniors; recreation or community service background.
• CPR, First Aid and AED certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire). Must possess a valid driver’s license and pass background/drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Create, plan, and oversee camps, community events, programs and recreational classes for various age groups.
• Coordinate event logistics: facilities, equipment, permits, vendors, setup/teardown.
• Provide on-site supervision during events to ensure safety and high-level execution.
• Recruit and coordinate instructors, volunteers, vendors, and staff as needed.
• Assist with program registration, attendance tracking, and basic reporting.
