Macon-Bibb County is seeking an entry-level recreation assistant to help supervise and conduct leisure activities at a local park. The role supports facility use, leads activities, and assists with records and safety reporting.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and some experience in parks or recreational activities. Strong communication and teamwork are essential for serving diverse age groups.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED with at least 1 year in parks/recreational activities or equivalent education/experience.
• Knowledge of parks and recreational activities and facilities.
• Ability to operate basic word processing and database software for simple records.

• Assists in conducting and supervising parks/recreational activities at an assigned park.
• Assists in supervising and coordinating the use of facilities at an assigned park.
• Demonstrates, teaches, and leads parks/recreational activities.
• Assists in supervising assigned personnel.
• Assists in keeping records and making reports.
• Assists in the reporting of maintenance and safety problems.
• Assists in collecting and reporting fees and charges.
• Assists in Ensuring that all safety procedures are followed.

High school graduate, or equivalent GED with one (1) year or more successful working experience in parks/recreational activities, or any equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable to the appointing authority.

• Basic working knowledge of personal computers and the ability to operate word processing and database software programs to keep simple records, as required.
• Ability to work with various age groups.
